Research is at our core. We breed future-proof varieties in anticipation of climate change and ever-changing market demands. To accelerate the breeding process and ensure high-quality seeds, we utilise modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, digital phenotyping, and data-driven breeding. This enables us to breed better, more sustainable varieties with higher yields and natural resistances to plant diseases for growers and chain partners all over the world.
A Look Back – 2024 marks our 100 anniversary!
This July we will celebrate our 100 year anniversary at Rijk Zwaan and as we look back and reflect on those years we are proud of the long term relationships that we have built with growers such as G’s. We’ve been fortunate enough to work with G’s for a number of years in the UK, but also Spain, Poland and Czech. We partner on variety development ranging from wholehead and babyleaf lettuce, to spinach, celery and radish.
Looking Forward – a sustainable future
At Rijk Zwaan we recognise the importance of our role in protecting the environment, which is why we ensure our business operations are not only efficient and economically profitable, but also sustainable and environmentally friendly. There is an incredible diversity of wild plants in nature, each with unique traits that could hold the key to tackling new plant diseases, combating silting and conquering drought. We take inspiration from the efforts that G’s puts into their Regenerative Farming and organic practises, which align with our disease-resistant varieties aimed at helping growers to reduce their use of chemical crop protection agents.
